Based on a recommendation in the newsgroup rec.music.classical.recordings (see the link below), I was thinking of acquiring the Munch/Saint-Saens XRCD. Seeing the comments here, I may reconsider.The question now is, how does the XRCD compare with other releases of this same recording? Most interesting would be XRCD vs Classic Records LP remastering. I remember reading somewhere that the master tape of this recording does have a significant amount of oversaturation, and this was a reason Classic Records did not make it one of their earlier reissues.
