There is no logical contradiction between points 1 and 3. I can know that it is not possible to know the provenance of many DSD recordings and also know that much DSD original recording is now made at rates other then DSD64.As for assertion number 2, I refer you to a post in this very thread where Jared Sacks, the main recording engineer of one of the most important DSD issuing labels ( Channel Classics,) effectively confirms this.
I do not argue that DSD64 is outdated. I argue that SACD is outdated but only because it is limited to a single resolution for DSD. BTW personally I still use and support SACD.
I express no worries about anything. My post contains no aesthetic or other value judgements at all.
Every point that I make can be easily validated with a little research. As for your point about SACD being "successful" and "widely supported" that is a preposterous claim given that its progenitors Sony and Philips dropped its use for releases decades ago and where even smaller classical music companies who once issued SACDs regularly ( such as Chandos and Hyperion) no longer make such releases. The closure of virtually all SACD pressing lines ( only 2 are left in the world AFAIK, Sonopress in Germany and I believe at a Sony plant in Japan) does not assist.
