Yeah, I read several opinions that the CD is no better, possibly worse, than some previous versions. What a shame. Nice that you blue-ray guys get an improvement, and that opinion is unanimous.

It almost tempts me to buy a universal player, just to hear this album. It is my favorite Hendrix, among my top ten favorites of all time. I have heard it probably close to a thousand times on the initial release, a beautiful and expensive Japanese Polydor import pressing, the original CD, and the first Hendrix family (EH) remaster. That's the one I have now. It's a bit bright and brash, slightly compressed, but also very airy and revealing.
