I took my main SACD/CD player out of my system for a warranty issue and had to live with my Sony BDP-590 as my player for about two weeks. It was very clear from the start that CD's did not sound particularly good, but it did play SACD's quite well. Interestingly, by the end of the two weeks I had grown accustomed to the CD sound and was ok with it - another topic for sure but your brain does "adjust" over time.
