I have both a stereo and surround system integrated. So I currently have a VSE Mod 4 for stereo CD and SACD that connects into my Air Tight ATC-2 preamp.. I also have an oppo DVD player that handles MC-SACD via HDMI into my Integra 9.8 surround. I am also interested in streaming from PC/MAC and/or my AppleTV as well as adding BLue Ray since I recently upgraded to a JVC 1080P projector.
So if this was an ideal world I would get one device that could do it all at a very high level of performance. The VSE Oppo BPD83SE could have a digital input added (Modwirght) and technically do it all..My experience is that devices that serve many functions typically do not excel at all of them...sometimes none of them... Hence my interest in how the modded Oppo and Sony 5400 compare for two channel CD and SACD.
