RE: Listening to SACd the Super way

I really don't see the need for personal attacks here. I assure you after over 30 years in pro audio I have heard just about every make and model of amplifier on the market. There are some excellent solid-state power amplifiers available and on paper they cream tube amplifiers in almost every specification. The thing is; my ears never learned to read.
We can argue/debate the pros and cons of tubes vs. solid-state adinfinitum
but it is like saying chocolate ice cream is better than vanilla.
I only know that my SETs draw me into the music and I seldom experience listening fatigue: usually with poor recordings. That is what listening to music is all about for me. Sensory pleasure.
Finally, there are two strong indicators that tubes are preferred by audiophiles. One is that in just about every recording studio I have worked in or visited, the best microphones available were tube driven condensors. Why tubes and not transistors? While tape machines may be 'old school', the very best had tube pre-amp sections. Why?

To close. The best indicator in my own listening space is I used to use solid-state amplifiers. I had Brystons, Philips, Yamaha, Crown and even tried a MacIntosh or two. Pepe the cat would leave the room unless the volume was at elevator level with all of these amplifiers. Since I switched to tubes; he remains on my lap or nearby unless I exceed reasonable levels. This is not science or empirical proof of anything I know but since his hearing is much more acute than my own I do take note of this reaction.
Please allow me to prefer tubes and I will accept that you prefer solid-state. This way we both win.
