Soundstage is determined by physics. Period. Resolution of playback hardware along with dynamics and clarity of amplification and accurate conversion from electrical to acoustical energy determines the width and depth of the sound-stage as well as the positioning of voices and instrumentation there in. There are no smoke and mirrors here.
Speaker positioning is a valuable tweak as are room treatments and vibration isolators etc.
These tweaks help by eliminating or reducing phasing issues as phasing determines imaging.
Anyone disagree?
