The Japanese are fanatical about their high fidelity. Just as Japanese vinyl pressings are audibly superior so are SACDs generally speaking. Of course there are exceptions to every rule but it has been my experience that even a Redbook CD made in Japan will stand up nicely to a domestic SACD. Case in point: JVC's XRCDs sound as good as SACDs IMO.
