Lots of recordings have too rich bass, especially old Telarcs (pre 2000)
As I said I will always prefer a slightly leaner bass but it must be fast, quick, articulate and tuneful.
And as far as the hardware, I can tell you that my RBCD player has a much better bass than my SACD player when playing RBCD's
BTW, what size subwoofer do you use in your car?
