Hi Oscar,I suspect that the difference being minimal between the CD and SACD i very likely to be due to the original recording (like you were eluding to). In order to get the full potential of the format, get one of the reference SACD's like DMP Does DSD, or FIM SACD Sampler, or (my favorite) the OPUS3 Sampler.....Then you will here where the format is going... Some of the re-releases of older and poor-quality material will probably not sound much better on SACD. I have had various experiences with older recordings.... from really sparking my interest in JAzz again with the awesome SACDs of Brubeck, Davis, and Ellington... to making me wonder why i liked the music in the first place because the SACD release was in fact a much better format and revealed the poor quality of music! (Gloria Estefan!).
