Just listening to the music

The first time I played the SACD version of "Tapestry" (Carole King), I wistfully thought of how this might have turned out if Chesky or Sheffield Labs or other audiophile label had recorded this. I listened to a couple of tracks, tried a quick look at "A/Bing" this against the CD version and had trouble deciding which I preferred. I suspect this might have had something to do with "listening fatigue" and/or lack of concentration, but not sure (or perhaps the tin-eared effect at work?)

The second time I just listened to the whole album in SACD mode and simply thoroughly enjoyed the music from end to end with few interruptions. I have NO desire to repeat this experience in CD mode even though this might be a fair way to compare CD (using presumed better DACs) vs. SACD. I cannot help but think listening to it yet again would be nearly as enjoyable as the first time; whether it was in CD or SACD mode.

It seems I cannot objectively evaluate this stuff (CD vs. SACD) when I actually enjoy the original content, no matter what the format. Or is it just the SACD just seems so much more listenable ?

Still pondering how to objectively give CD a fair shot against SACD. Perhaps not possible, as I have thoroughly enjoyed all the SACDs I've played (or wishful thinking because of the price premium ?!)
