Too new to rate

1) Not at all to knock the EMM Labs Switchman but I like my custom built Placette Audio multi-channel pre far better for transparency *and* dynamics, but especially transparency. It's simply more pure and simply stays out of the way of the amps, letting them do their thing completely unimpeded. In customizing the Placette Audio passive I provided to Guy Hammel the impedance specs for my amps (passives are extremely amp sensitive and are best optimized with the input impedance of solid state gear) so that he could optimize it for my gear.

2) If you have identified the Switchman as standing in the way, install another dart pre and combine them in a multi-channel system. This would solve the gear problem that you have identified. This is what some are doing to incorporate their favorite line stages. This is in essence what I did with the customized Placette Passive Linestage

3) Also, my multi-channel system is substantially better than it was 18 months ago simply because of experience. Just like it is difficult to "dial in" a two channel system in a few weeks it is far more difficult and *unlikely* that one can accomplish that with a multi-channel system, especially a complex one in a few weeks or months.

4) After years being acclimated to two channel it can take a little time to "learn" to listen/appreciate multi-channel, just like it was a learning experience to go from mono to two-channel (or vice versa).

5) Overall, I would say, with all due respect, that your experience with high-end multi-channel is "too new to rate"
