there are more MCH recordings in the Classical realm? An area that I have very little experience with. This is interesting as there are many recordings of the same compositions. All of my experience with Multichannel is encompassed in hearing "Tubular Bells," - which IMO, I regard as atrocious, - which is doing great damage to MCH.
With the amount of improvement that is happening, and needs to continue, in two channel, - it will be a while before I have an interest in MCH. I still have not heard 1 good MCH recording. And I'll have to pile up a whole bunch of good MCH experiences, with World, ROCK, and Jazz, genri before I even get to the point of the understanding that there's no way that I can afford MCH. Plus, - I'd have to move out of my apartment or knock down the wall between my bicycle room/office and my living room. (Events like the 2006 VonSchwikert MCH debacle at CES/The SHOW set back MCH for me for years, and a few of my friends who laughed at that joke of a presentation. Indeed, again just my opinion, but events like that do so much damage to MCH, you have to wonder what those people are thinking).
That doesn't even approach cutting into the very real prejudices that I have away from Multichannel, 1st there was the novelty of QUAD (garbage) in the 70s that sticks in the craw of the Audiophile, now there is Home Theatre (novelty) that gets in the way of accurate/realistic/true musical hall reproduction.
Multichannel killed itself by not having 5 speakers arranged in a semi-circle up front: to keep as far away from HT and QUAD as humanly possible...
