Home Hi-Rez Highway

New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

My point has been...

that folks EXAGGERATE the issues with LP's, because they seem never to hve gotten into them in the first place, or are refusing to investigate.

Arguing about formats is pointless. Learning how to facilitate all of them is the key. I love the sound of my cassettes on my deck, for example.

Dave P is right--never thought of formulating like that, and he surprises me with his age. I also own LP's from the 50's now, thrift and donated and many donated 60's records which are absolutely wonderful with noiseless surfaces. Another guy on here doesn't believe me either, but it's true. And the records in my family's home from the mid 60's to 80's and my own (transported them across the country 4 or 5 times) from the 80's to 90's are mint. Most (> 80%) are essentially noiseless except a click here or there, and I agree with the cleaning guys over in Vinyl Asylum that much of those can be removed simply.

I wrote to Sordidman that I wish I had an APL modded player, but passed on it in 2004 due to the fellow's inability to deliver in a reasonable time frame (I was looking to mod my Pioneer DV 47Ai, but he said buy a DV-563 and he'd do it). I love the convenience of a good universal player, and have thought of buying a McCormack, Denon or RAM Modded something or other.
