Ric,
when i wrote 'bandwidth'....i meant 'data density'.....i thought 'bandwidth' referred to depth of info as much as breath of info. in any case, that is what i hear. even though vinyl seems to have as much high frequency extention as digital to my ears; i accept that DSD is likely more extended. OTOH 'up there' is where the noise is on DSD.....and not so on vinyl.
regarding DSD X2 and DSD masters; i don't really know about that. you may be right.....and are welcome to visit to demonstrate.
when i went to RMAF last year i asked Ray Kimber about whether what i was hearing at his big Isomike demo was DSD off a hard drive. he told me that i was hearing the same SACD disc that he was giving out. i then asked him whether the DSD master sounded better. he commented that in his experience the finished SACD sounded better. although he told me why that was in his opinion i cannot clearly remember what he said and don't want to guess.
if someone else has more info on Ray's perspective and would like to share that might be helpful. he has quite a bit of experience on that issue.
