Home Hi-Rez Highway

New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

Chris, I'm all for keeping what you already have, but the original question was about new aquisitions

And quite frankly all my available funds now are going for new SACDs which are now be released hot and heavy, especially in my favorite type of music: Classical.

I am even going to replace my DVD-Audio of Elgar's Symphony No. 3 on Naxos as it was just announced on SACD. Why? Naxos screwed up the DVD-Audio by down-sampling the original master from 24 Bit 176.4kHz to 24 Bit 44.1kHz to make room for DTS and Dolby Digital and keep everything on one layer. If anyone else had done this DVD-Audio it would have been at full resolution and on 2 layers. Oh Well, I just hope Naxos uses the 24 Bit 176.4kHz original master for the SACD and not use the 24 Bit 44.1kHz copy they created for the DVD-Audio. This is engineered by the famous Tony Faulkiner! I'm hoping the SACD is killer!

It's just that recordings I've given up on ever making it to SACD seem to get released after I buy them in another format.

You also told me I would regret selling all my SACDs as I may not be able to buy them all back someday. Well there are two I dearly love I could not buy back:

1) Antill: Corroboree on Everest SACD which is now out of print and the few times I found it people were want $50.00 or more. I settled for the Classic Records 24/96 DAD that I bought for $14.99.

2) Nature’s Realm on Waterlily SACD also out of print, I bought the 24/96 DAD of this one as well.

All my other favorite SACDs, even out of print ones I was able to find at prices close to what I sold them for thanks to the price drops by many labels and buying in sales and buying used.

Happy listening,
Teresa
