I never thought I'd see Russo's Three Pieces for Blues Band and Orchestra on SACD as it sooo obscure! If this can make to SACD anything can. This was my excuse for buying CDs.All I want now is Meij's Symphony No. 1 "Lord Of The Rings" on SACD and my top 100 recordings of all time will be on SACD.
I also am selling most of my CDs on Audiogon and Half.com. I will buy no new CDs as I see no reason to buy the CD, then 6 months later buy the SACD and sell the CD. Waiting 6 months is more reasonable and will teach me patience.
CDs sound excellent through my "tubed" SACD player which upsamples them to 24/96. On this player the "pain" of PCM is gone except for heavily massed strings (such as Barber's Adagio). However CDs are missing the shockingly real realism of SACDs. So while CDs are more comfortable now than in any previous player they do not draw me into the music.
My SACD collection is now over 300 titles.
Happy listening,
Teresa
