> With SACD proving a more enjoyable listening experience than CD, those who care about sound quality (and the majority of classical fans do) are turning off to CD--with or without the hype of the audio press. The reality is the exact opposite. Most of the people I know who consider themselves hardcore classical fans (and I know several collectors with very large collections) don't care about SACD at all, if they even know what it is. Go to classical websites or newsgroups like rec.music.classical and you'll find almost no mention of SACD, except for the few times Kal from Stereophile chimes in. Classical collectors are among the least interested in recording quality--they'll eagerly listen to an air check recording taken from a static filled radio broadcast of Sviatoslav Richter before listening to a Lang Lang recording in state-of-the-art DSD sound.
