Uhhhh, DUI, how is that serious plugged-ear problem you were complaining about not long ago? I assume it's all cleared up and that you have now regained the hearing of a young boy, thereby permitting you to reach such judgements accurately. Actually, I tend to agree with you that the differences usually don't permit identifying a specific difference in a specific note played by a specific instrument. It's more like the difference before and after you clean your spectacles or your camera lens, a gain in overall clarity and naturalness. You can't really identify a difference between a nose on a somewhat out-of-focus photo and one which is tightly focussed, especially if you only get to look for a fleeting second. Still, you can truthfully report that one photo is clearer than the other. Now curb your lawyerly impulse to point out how this comparison is flawed and go listen to the music.
