I have done this experiment many times on many hybrids. DMP, Opus 3, Telarc, you name it. Sometimes the difference is subtle, sometimes not subtle at all. I like to listen to percussion, especially ringing type sounds. SACD always does better on this kind of stuff.I did not do this experiment with the 3 Stones disks I heard tonight. But I am 90% sure that what I heard on the SACD layer would be less shimmering on the CD layer. There are ringing sounds on Satanic Majesties Request.
I don't know. Maybe you're right. I have quite a bit more than $5000 invested. Why don't you give it some time and see how you feel after a week or so. It seems pretty harsh to declare a hoax after an hour.
