Two of the Esoteric components (clock & power supply) are placed directly on carpet via BDR cones. I am not familiar with BDR cones but if the cones cannot penetrate the carpet and make direct contact with the concrete floor, then there will likely be significant sonic degration. This is because vibration energy within the two components (especially the power supply) cannot be dissipated to the next solid/hard medium due to the soft carpet.For a fairer comparison, ALL components should be placed on identical platforms.
