hi DM68, my French Friend,as you could read from my post.....i have reservations about whether or not the Esoteric was completely at full performance level. you and i have usually heard similar things.
it's too bad that i didn't have more time to really experiment with the Esoteric and discover all it's settings and potential connectitity possibilities. i described how it was connected.....does that sound correct? the differences i heard were way beyond interconnect issues.
i was surprised that DSD was converted to PCM......my understanding was that on this unit......that DSD was preserved thruout until analogue conversion.
to my ears, the Meitner was considerably closer to the Rockport in musical terms, both in detail and soundstaging......whereas you're perception is opposite......curious?
i thought the Meitner to be the clearly more dynamic.
hopefully.....i'll have another chance in the future to spend time with one of these 5-box beasts to see if my perceptions are still the same.
