hi Robert,i use the passive Placette RVC (remote volume control) and a custom built (by Jena Labs) passive switchbox for input switching. this switchbox is completely dual-mono with Rotary Shalco switches, three inputs, and toogles for muting when i use my tt. the RVC is between my amps and the switchbox is on the side of my room near my sources.

this setup has bettered all manner of active and passive preamps in my system over the past three years.
