"An old analogue tape recording? Redbook can capture anything on it."Sorry, but redbook cannot capture everything that is on an old analog recording, even a poor one. Neither can DSD for that matter. Nothing makes a perfect copy of an analog source. Nothing.
The question is only whether the differences are significant enough for you to rebuy a given title. (BTW, the Vaughan SACD in question retails for less than its redbook equivalent.) I already own the redbook version, and it's "good enough" for me, so I won't rebuy the music on SACD. But I would not assume that the rebbook version has captured everything that was on those old tapes. Not by a long shot.
