then put your money where your mouth is and then spew your nonsense.I was a non-believer up until 6 months ago when I tried my first power cord. I now own four. Do you think all of the "power cord users" are stupid and you are the only smart guy around here? These guys are spending their hard-earned money on power cords, cables, etc. because they can hear a difference. I would have been very happy to say "nope, can't hear a difference". It would have saved me about $1500. But the difference is not subtle.
Where do you live? Why don't you post a request to hook-up with someone in your area who has good equipment and A/B stock cords to some really good after-market cords. There is no doubt in my mind that you will hear a difference unless you just want to continue to be a nay Sayer for the sake of being antagonistic.
I was also a skeptic about how much difference IC's could really make. I read all of the crap about the HMS controversy since day one. Well, I just ordered HMS Gran Finale Top Match IC's, more out of curiousity than anything else, and the difference is so audible it is simply laughable to read your rantings about wire. If you are ever in Hawaii, please be my guest to bring your favorite IC's with you and we will listen to "yours and mine". (And this is a genuine invitation.)
Assuming your hearing is acceptable and your brain can sufficiently process what you hear, if you have a single honest bone in your body, you will leave with egg all over your face.
But this challenge does raise one important issue. The test does ride on the premise that, "your hearing is acceptable and your brain can sufficiently process what you hear". That is not meant to be derogatory in any respect, but rather a serious statement.
My business is a rather unique one and I spend time with people of all walks of life every day. My business is "entertainment" and it never ceases to amaze me how much some people in my audience miss simply because they have sub-standard hearing. They are constantly turning to their spouse to say, "what did he say", while everyone else in the audience is dying laughing.
And then there are others who clearly hear what I say, but their brains don't sufficiently process the information and the jokes go right over their heads.
I am convinced that many of these debates in audio revolve around the same set of variables; hearing and brain function. You may very well be telling the truth if you say YOU don't hear a difference in power cords or cables, but to flat-out say that others don't hear the difference is patently absurd.
Like I have said before, you would probably argue that all dog whistles sound the same, but you would most certainly get an argument from dogs who can actually hear the whistle.
Look, you are entitled to your opinion, but why don't you stop insulting everyone else by saying it is utter nonsense when they claim to hear things that you apparently don't or can't (or that you don't WANT to hear).
I find it funny that you keep bragging about having your Haflers modded when we all know that upgrades to amps are all smoke and mirrors. Nothing can be done to any stock amp to improve it over what the original designer created! Come on, how much difference can a new power supply or a handful of different resistors and capacitors really make? None, zilch, nada!
