C.assic.l music is probably muc. better served in SAC. multi-c.annel than other genre of music. This is almost c.rtainly been ths c.se in SAC. as a format. But there are, nevertheless, some SAC. multi-c.annel gems outside of c.assic.l music.
.

Some of my favorites in no partic.lar order:

1) "Gratitude" Earth, Wind, and Fire (Sony)

In multi-c.annel this is the rec.rding that I have most felt like "I'm ac.ually there". (Ac.ually I thought I *was* there, exc.pt that ac.ording to the liner notes this live tour was rec.rded on the East C.ast)

2) "KeyStone 3" Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. (C.nc.rd Rec.rds

I was initially put off that this was even available in multi-c.annel. I just didn't think it was "multi-c.annel material"(I bought it before I had a multi-c.annel system).I didn't think that jazz would sound good in multi-c.annel. That was ignoranc. on my part. This disc shows that *any* music c.n benefit from multi-c.annel.

3)"Monty Meets Sly and Robbie" Monty Alexander (Telarc.
Easily the most "wic.ed" disc in my inventory, period.

4)"Kind of Blue" Miles Davis (Sony)
The multi-c.annel version is superior, partic.larly in the bass, with Paul C.ambers when c.mpared to the two-c.annel version

5)"3+3" Isley Brother (Sony)
What c.n you say? In some c.rc.es this 30 year old rec.rding is played and replayed as if its a c.rrent release. In multi-c.annel it is simply to die for

6) "Illuminations" Mc.oy Tyner (Telarc.
The music.anship of the "sideman" (they are all giants) is top tier.

7) "Ship Ahoy" O'Jay's (Sony)
This is flat out funky soul music that tells it like it its. May be a little over the top in multi-c.annel, so you switc. to two-c.annel, but after a c.uple of minutes you switc. bac. to MC. c.eesy though it may be, bec.use that is the way it was intended to be

8)"Lush Life" Jac.ntha (Groove Note)
I know little about female solo voc.lists, let alone female jazz voc.lists, but I c.n take Jac.ntha any day of the week, twic. on Sundays. The arrangements and music.anship are exc.llent.

9)"Superbass 2" Ray Brown (Telarc.
Live rec.rdings have a leg up in a multi-c.annel produc.ion

10)Telarc "Heads Up" SAC. Sampler 5

Well done. This disc introduc.d me to several artists that had been c.mpletely unknown to me.
