Re: How does a piece of plastic on top of an SACD increase timing precision?

Wow, you sure have a lot of digital players !

Well, I believe he was referring to the "correction" of the reflectivity errors by the "plastic", which in turn resulted in less errors for the reflectivity correction process to correct. And this would result in the system clock to have less timing errors.

Anyway, all these accessories (green pen, Audio Technica, Statmat, Harmonix, Blacklight) have their own theories. Stereophile related the green pen results to jitter correction ... I guess it would fill up whole pages to discuss about these ...

So, the best approach is to have an open mind and forget the manufacturer's theories and listen (or view using a DVD player) before going into lengthy discussions. It sure isn't credible to pass judgement when one hasn't listened. It's about the cost of one SACD, and as mentioned, not everyone can hear the difference (like chnages in phase), so we do offer a money-back guarantee locally. I believe we're the only ones in the world offering this. So here's hoping your dealers do, once they get it in stock of course :)

We were comparing a track from Handel's Messiah (SACD) on an Audio Note 2.1x CD player (non-SACD), first using without the SID, then with the SID. The noise made by a musician very early in the track bumping something was heard on the SID'ed disc, and not on the non-SID'ed disc. Will test tomorrow with a SACD player ...
