As ever, when you compare an SACD to a CD on the same player, or even an SACD to a DVD-A or DAD (24/96), what you are doing is comparing that player's ability with each format so the comparison only applies to that model of player.

In general, what I would say is that every SACD player will play SACD better than CDs and so if I had an SACD player and a title I wanted was available on SACD and SHM-CD, I would buy the SACD every time without hesitation, just as if I had a DVD-A player I'd buy the DVD-A every time.
