Why does Vinyl sound better than SACD?

I'm looking for a scientifically valid explanation, if one exists, for the better resolution of vinyl over SACD that has been claimed innumerable times on this site. If one were to commit the exact same recording to both LP and SACD, why would the tracking of a needle in a vinyl groove be superior to a decoding of an optical disc? I suspect that the answer lies in the psychological rather than physical. I'm not claiming that grooveheads don't hear a difference that they interpret as better resolution, but what is the basis for this in natural law?
