The Philips doesn't seem to do so well from a reliability standpoint, with or without modifications. If JT can demonstrate that Richard's mods were the likely cause of failure, he has a case for warning us away from them. Besides, Richard was willing to pay for the repair, even if unrelated to his work. Modifications don't seem like a big risk to me, except for the longevity of the platform in this case.
