Your EGO is the problem

Ric,

I have nothing against you personally and respect your right to make a living. You are criticizing a product and an engineer without any basis of truth - "You see, Meitner is holding all SACD recordings back by not encouraging as much experimentation as possible on his gear. The recordings we hear are only as good as his A to D is. If we improve it then we all win!"

What is Meitner doing that is "holding all SACD recordings back"? You have the same opportunity as anyone else, including Ed Meitner, to create a product that can be used for the recording as well as playback of SACD. You are just using Ed as an excuse for your possibile inability.

All you are doing is guessing. Have you ever modified a Linn CD 12? A Burmester? I think not.

You are second guessing an engineer and designer who is at the top of his field. You are just trying to make money off of his accomplishments with specualtion and no hands on experience with the product. You make these statements of "OK execution" as a guess. That is unprofessional. What if I were to state that I guessed your execution was OK without ever seeing it?

Repairing the work of the modification that was done on the EMM Labs unit is a real strain on EMM Labs' time. EMM Labs is currently backordered and having to deal with someone else's mess is a step backwards. If the customer realized there was a chance of this happening prior to him shipping it to be modified, he never would have done it.

I am not telling people not to have modifications done to their equipment, I am just passing on an experience so someone else does not suffer as this customer has. I wish all of you that do modifications the best of luck in your endeavors. I just hope that you and your colleagues take a responsible approach to the customer. Modification of something "you" won first and then offering the "improvement", seems to be the most responsible to the person paying for the "modification".

BTW. I was mistaken the modifier does post on this forum.
