Inmates:Please forgive me if this has been posted. The Stereophile website has a story entitled "Vinyl Record Day Returns" by Jon Iverson. The article indicates:
"SACD and DVD-Audio may be getting all the format news these days, but here's an interesting statistic: sales of vinyl so far this year total 661,000 units, trouncing the 234,000 units sold by DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD combined."
Are these figures accurate? If so, I am very surprised. These figures suggest a fair bit of idle SACD production capacity, or alternately, some large (and increasing) inventories.
Any comments?
