let me rework your statement: some sacds sound bad for the same reason that some cds sound bad, and some sacds sound great for the same reason that some cds sound great.
sacd is a new medium, not magic dust.
as one example, i think the analogue production discs are terrific.
i am not sure if by "well recorded SACDs" you mean better than the CD alternative or the *ultimate* in fidelity. bill evan's old records will never sound like they were recorded in sony's dsd studio last week, but they sound better than i've ever heard them in a digital medium.
