RE: History of digital RECORDING

" Yes, ironic that they are calling 24/44.1 "hirez" now."

Yet I have some 24/44.1 ( and 16/44.1) recordings that sound better than 24/96 etc. ones. As always the expertise of the engineer and/or producer making that original master trumps the technology.

I am, of course, overlooking the fact that the provenance of many hi-rez recordings issued is questionable.
