Hello,I hear the Jensen transformers sound good. I just bought a used Audio Research PH-2 that will more than likely replace my Audible Illusions with the Ortofon transformer. I won't be needing the Ortofon transformer anymore if you're interested. It's really pretty good sounding.
My system has changed quite a bit since you heard it. The copper foil speaker cable has been replaced with ultra pure solid core silver. The Klipsch woofers have been replaced with my TAD 1601a's. The passive filter in front of the 4001 drivers has been nearly completly rebuilt. And the Audio Note output stage is now being replaced with the new 6922 output board that will drive my preamp better (and is supposed to be more linear across the board). I think you'll like the changes.
I still haven't decided yet on what circuit I'm going to use for the new amps. Seeing they are just driving the TAD compression drivers only they will probably be the 483 output tubes (1930 5 volt globe 45's) with a 26 driver. Maybe parallel feed, maybe IT, maybe tube regulation..
