New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

A simple toggle back and forth....

can be,unfortunately the equivalent of a schlocky salesperson playing different speakers at different volume levels to try and make one sound better than the other. You have to ensure levels are matched to be comparing. Quite easy to have the SACD output slightly higher to make it sound "better". See the Stereophile review of the Sony CSCDXA9000ES. John Atkinson mentions this in particular as the SACD level is slightly higher than the CD level. Without matching levels, you would assume SACD sounds better than CD.
