Specifi tone is not the only character involved

To summarize, the idea of comparing a loudspeaker to "a real instrument" ignores the fact that real instruments have a wide variation in tone.

There is an unmistakable gestalt in the sound of live instruments vs. a recording. While wifey's baby grand may have different tone from other pianos, it still renders those unique qualities of a live instrument. And provides for me a ready reference.

A Steinway sounds just as live as a Bosendorfer, etc.

We both love the sound of solo piano. This was played at our wedding and we happened to hear her live at Woodruff Hall in Atl. Performance nearly identical to recording with her Steinway.
