Yes, it makes sense. There is no evidence-based rationale for having separates. ..In any other electrical engineering application the idea of separating into two boxes that which could be combined into one would be regarded as bad engineering. Yes, there was a time when power supplies were noisy, and amplifiers were weak and needed to be upgraded periodically - without swapping out the pre-amp. ..But that was long ago. These days, separates offer no audible advantages - watt for watt - over an integrated. On the contrary, by going with an integrated you are less apt to end up with the hum/hiss and grounding issues that happen when you needlessly add extra interconnects, power cables and grounding points.follow science. not audiophile silliness
