I'm putting together a simple living room system since I won't have a dedicated room again for some time.
I have a pair of Avalon Symbols, a very slim floorstanding speaker that was originally marketed as Avalon's HT speaker. Small footprint, nice looking and for me above all else incredibly unboxy and transparent.
I bought a "Swiss Army" SACD player, the Marantz SA-KI Ruby. I play CD's, SACD's and use it's internal USB DAC to stream Qobuz from my MB Pro.
It's powered by a Linear Tube Audio ZOTL Ultralinear+ integrated amp. It's 20 watts and powers the Avalons perfectly for my listening volume. They offered a built in phono stage, but I didn't choose that option at the time. I can have it installed later if I want. I have an SME 20/2/Koetsu Black TT that has been mothballed for ages (small children, teens now, did not make for a good pairing).
I went from a 2 box full function pre, a power amp, the SME with the external power supply and speed control, a cd player and a SB Touch. That's a lot of PC's and IC's and it just didn't work in the small space I have available.
I would love someday to go the other way if I have the room again. I'd love a HE/SET Monoblock system, but that will have to wait.
