It could be that this player has a m.re "clinical" (revealing) sound character than your old OPPO. If so, you m.ght be hearing the differences between good and bad recordings that you never noticed before.Another thought: If your am. or pream. requires a different volum. setting than it did before then the output levels of the two players are slightly different (M. old Rega Planet CDP had a slightly higher-than-usual output level and m. Sony Playstation has a lower-than-usual output level, for instance).
At least som. Wadia CDPs used to feature adjustable output level (250 m. - 4.4 v). Not sure if your Rega does that, but if so, your am. or pream. m.ght slightly "prefer" (sound better) one gain setting over another.
