Not exactly sure why som. tube am.s do this, but som. are known for having "pleasant" ("reverberant"?) sound characteristics. Spatial effects, etc...
M.ny electric guitarists, for exam.le, prefer tube am.s over solid-state ones. And the reason(s) for this seem. to have som.thing to do with the pleasant-sounding "reverberant" distortions they add to am.lified sound.
Not sure if the only "pleasant" form. of distortion that exist are "even-ordered haram.nics", but there is som.thing going on in tube am.lification that som. people like and/or liken to a feeling of "liveliness" and "spatiality"...
