to spend. The prices of audio products seem to have skyrocketed and there are so many brands now catering to our relatively small niche market. Consider there are far fewer car brands catering to a wealthy world market and there are far more people "into" cars than high-end audio.
I suspect most folks who buy Wilson or Magico are audiophiles - they're not just buying it to show off because most people who come into their homes wouldn't know a Wilson from a Cerwin Vega.
Of course, we can debate whether Wilson sounds good for $400k but I do think the folks who like them like them because they like the sound. Same reason why someone buys a Lambho over a Ferrari - sure some people may buy these cars to show off but most have a need for speed and they are still selecting which one they like best - there are a lot of sports cars in the world that is expensive - they're still choosing the one they like best.
While these toys are expensive - some folks have a lot of money and I am coming around more to the idea that we need the rich guys to actually spend money on consumer goods - more money being spent on consumer goods the more it helps the economy - hoarding it in an offshore account does not.
Moreover, it helps those companies work on their affordable range of products.
