Hiromi Uehara is amazing and crosses over among more or less traditional piano jazz (albeit with a fast and somewhat frantic approach), avant guard jazz, and smooth jazz. I have to admit to enjoying her music far more than Keiko Matsui's. She's more exploratory and challenging. And talk about a fun person to see play live!
