Probably true for most any sealed box design - it's just that there aren't that many left anymore - there is the LS-3/5a and a few others but I think most will immediately want to buy a sub - the K doesn't give you that impression unless you listen to pedal organ of course. The AN J though isn't that much more money and doesn't take up that much more of a footprint but offers significantly deeper bass.
This fellow has his J pulled out from the wall but I think that is because the TV is further out - if he wall mounted the TV or just pushed it back up against the wall - he could do the same for the speakers - Generally they're pretty flexible - they don't need to go up against a wall but they often sound better there.
