RE: Auto-tune: why outright dismissal? Does one dismiss

A guitar player that employs the "effects" you mentioned to disguise the fact that they aren't very good at playing is no different than a singer who can't sing using Auto-tune. Either is quickly exposed when you take away the "effects".

If, on the other hand, it's used to explore new sounds to extend or complement an otherwise competent performer, I'm okay with it.
