I tend to agree that endless fiddling/tweaking of my sound system is not neccessary or even helpful to my enjoyment of music playback in my home.
Having said that, if you think that by not making any adjustements to your hi fi system you are somehow being more truthful or accurate to the orignal performance, I doubt that very much.
The imperfections of all the technologies used in recording and playback, along with the intentional modifications applied to the recordings by the masterers and producers, kind of makes such thinking really moot.
