It is only a matter of time - if it has not happened already - that one or more of the popular music streaming services are penetrated by hackers and the data including CC numbers and personal data, is compromised.

It may have already happened through the Solar Winds hacking. The company is largely owned by two venture capital firms who have a business strategy of intense cost custting. As a result, much of Solar Winds programming work was moved off shore to the rigourously secure (LOL) Indian programming farms.

In fact it is known that Solar Winds' upgrade server had a PW of Solarwinds123 :)

Basically, short term profits squeezed out by the capital investment firms mandated use of unsecure - if not downright corrupt - programmers and programming teams.

So the Russkies took advantage of the greed factor, and took ownershop of much of our data, including U.S. Government systems, for the past year!

It's called "privatizing profits and socializing losses."

Similar misaligned incentives affect your everyday cybersecurity, too. Your smartphone is vulnerable to something called SIM-swap fraud because phone companies want to make it easy for you to frequently get a new phone - and they know that the cost of fraud is largely borne by customers. Data brokers and credit bureaus that collect, use and sell your personal data don't spend a lot of money securing it because it's your problem if someone hacks them and steals it.
