After I turned 14, the music was so awesome, I became an audiophile

In late April 1986, after I had turned 14, the biology classes went on the field trip to Moss Beach. We had a cool bus driver, who played the radio. And then, most of us had Walkmen. Since we will be celebrating the 35th (!) anniversary of the music of 1986, we will be covering it over on Rocky Road.

But anyway, all that awesome new music of April 1986 inspired me to take an interest in home audio. Back then, we were still split along boy/girl lines, so there was a certain innocence of that time.

Nobody had a camera, so I apologize for not having any photos from the 80s. We could have sworn that, on our April 1986 field trip, the beach, rocks, and tide pools extended further than it does now. Could be the combination of erosion and rising sea levels.

But anyway, the #1 song when I actually turned 14 was Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus." He thus became the first white performer to take a rap song to #1.
