Move to a metric country

I lived in Australia for 3 years. Unlike Canada and the UK, which still hang on to bits of the old system for certain things, Australia went all-in on the metric system. When I first got there, I was constantly making mental conversions of units you encounter in everyday life like distances, temperatures, weights of food, volumes of drinks, weight and height of people, etc. But within a year, I had unconsciously stopped doing that and was thinking in metric units full time.

It's kind of like foreign language immersion. You need to stop using your native tongue for a while before your brain stops trying to translate everything.
