Anyone who has tools and maintains or repairs stuff needs to double up on some tools and deal with metric fasteners. Anyone who works in health care, science, engineering, or manufacturing uses the metric system. Anyone who supplies materials and parts to the above uses the metric system. Most people working in the building trades encounter metric units at least some of the time, especially if they do commercial work.
If you work in a completely non-technical profession (legal, HR, hospitality, retail, etc.) and don't repair any of your stuff, you can probably avoid the metric system.
